The Coastal Conservancy is a State agency established in 1976 to protect and improve natural lands and waterways, help people access and enjoy the outdoors, and sustain local economies along the length of California’s coast. The Coastal Conservancy has recognized the efforts of the Long Beach Utilities Department through it’s Climate Ready Program and will help fund DIG Garden installations. The Climate Ready Program is aimed at helping California coastal communities adapt to the effects of climate change such as increased greenhouse gas emissions and more extreme weather conditions.
